Questions About Our Outdoor Learning Programmes
Everything you need to know about outdoor relaxation and nature-based education across Ireland's most beautiful landscapes
Absolutely. Every programme we offer is specifically designed for active seniors, with careful attention to pacing, accessibility, and comfort. Our guides understand the needs of older adults, and we tailor routes and activities to ensure everyone enjoys themselves without feeling rushed or exhausted. Most of our participants are 65–80 years old, and many tell us these are among the best outdoor experiences they've had.
Our forest bathing sessions typically run for 2–3 hours, though we keep the actual walking to gentle, easy-paced movement with plenty of time for sitting, observing, and connecting with the forest. You're not hiking here—you're slowing down and using your senses. The whole experience is designed around mindfulness rather than distance covered.
You don't need anything fancy to start. A simple pair of binoculars helps, but we can advise you on affordable, reliable options before you come. Comfortable walking shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, and a small notebook for jotting down sightings are really all you need. Our guides bring field guides and spotting scopes, so you'll have plenty of support identifying species.
Spring (April–May) and autumn (September–October) are ideal. You'll have mild temperatures, longer daylight hours, and fewer crowds than summer. Winter walks are stunning too if you're prepared for cooler weather. Summer can be busy with tourists, so we often recommend visiting outside peak season for a more peaceful experience.
You're welcome to bring your own picnic, and we'll guide you to the best spots with seating, shelter, and views. We also offer curated local food options—local cheeses, breads, and treats from nearby villages—if you'd rather we sorted that. It's entirely up to you, and we're happy to work with dietary preferences or restrictions.
You can reach out to us through our contact page, and we'll walk you through the booking process. Most programmes include professional guide services, educational materials, and route planning tailored to your fitness level. Transport, meals, and accommodation aren't included in the standard fee, but we're happy to help arrange those or suggest local options. We'll give you a complete breakdown before you commit.
